Thanksgiving Ramblings

I've been slacking on the blogfront lately (as have the rest of my blogging friends so I guess I'm not alone). We had a good Thanksgiving . . . different, but good.

Josh had to work so the girls, Linus and I made the 10 minute trek to my mom's on Wednesday and didn't come home until Friday morning. Since we had 17 dear friends and family for dinner, we cooked all day Wednesday and got up early on Thanksgiving to finish up. It's a good thing my mom and I love to cook because we often find ourselves with a hungry crowd! I tackled the pies and rolls, she did the stuffing, and at 10:30 we made our friend Rick some fudge for old times sake (and really because we were craving some chocolate). Our meal was amazing . . . the best yet, and I don't want to stick my hand up another turkey for at least a year (had to get that herb mixture soaked in)!!!

After a mile high pile of dishes, we started in on the games . . . mafia, random mind games, and American Idol on the Wii. Woohoo! My mom and I thought we were pretty good before everyone else started singing. We now realize that we should just stick to cooking. It was fun and I wish we would have taken a few pictures but I forgot my camera.

I was reminded more than ever this Thanksgiving of how much I have to be thankful for (Josh and the girls making the top of the list). It was a year of change for all who joined our dining table . . . much of it was difficult and just plain sad. However, we serve a God who will turn our sorrow into laughter and has a plan beyond anything we can imagine. The song "I will praise Him through this storm" has stuck with me lately. God is bigger than our poor economy, broken families, and our disapointments in life. Praise the Lord for his goodness . . .
